Evaluation of CO2-triggered and thermo-responsive gels for heterogeneous oil formations

Herein is investigated the potential of CO2-triggered and thermo-responsive gel as plugging agent for heterogeneous sandstone formations. The starts to swell from a silica-based nanofluid solution at temperature high 55 °C. Spectral characterization, rheological properties, adsorption characteristics, oil recovery efficiency modeled formations are studied. spectral characterization revealed that CO2 bubbling during preparation controls partition hydrolyzed monomers polymerization by silica nanoparticles. gelation time properties depend both on formation temperature, presence in salts. For either parameter investigated, calcium sulfate salts have most prominent effect. depends not only permeability distribution but also mitigation polymer adsorption. application gels could be effective with contrasted fails give promising results homogeneous
